Lindsay Hurst, Designer from Apopka, FL
For the last 3 years I’ve hosted a fashion fundraiser for an organization in our community called Matthew’s Hope. Matthew’s Hope helps the homeless by “giving them a hand up, not a hand out”.
Every Tuesday, over 60 homeless people come to their facility for a hot shower, a fresh meal, a haircut and shave and to do some laundry. They have a garden on premises that is kept up by some of the homeless people, and in doing so, they earn points they can exchange for toiletries, clothing, shoes etc. They provide prayer, love, hope, temporary housing, job opportunities, a program that teaches them responsibility to help them get back on their feet and a big hug when they walk through the door.
My mother-in-law works at the facility and introduced me to the wife of the founder, Pam. She shared the premise of the ministry with me – giving hope to those who need a HUGE dose of it, and I knew I wanted to be a part of that! Premier is all about giving hope so it was a great match for me and my business.
Over the past 3 years, we have raised almost $2,500 by sharing our jewelry with those in the community that know and love Matthew’s Hope! At the first “Fashion Fundraiser” we held, I met a lady who came up to me and handed me a copy of the very first published catalog from Premier! What a gem she gave me that day. To make it better, she opened the cover and showed me the picture of the model on the first page and said, “that’s me.” Oh my goodness! Long story short, she is now in my downline, sharing hope with others as well!
