Merry Christmas

Fear not: for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy… For unto you is born … a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.

Luke 2:10

To the Premier Family:

It’s been just over three years now that Joan went to Heaven.  Oh, how I miss her.  Did you know that she prayed for Premier and all of you daily?  I do too!  God really does answer prayer.  One of the greatest answers to prayer was when God gave me Joan as my wife.  I prayed for a family and a home.  It was Joan’s dream to have a large family too.  God has been so good to the Horner Family, and He really blessed me with five great children, 16 awesome grandchildren and 7 wonderful great-grandchildren with one more on the way!  Every Christjamas we get together to play games, have dinner and remember the reason for Christmas.

If I could say one thing that was most important in my 89 years – that He sent His son, Jesus, to die on the cross and that He rose again!  Jesus is the reason we celebrate Christmas.  I want you to know that what God has done for me He can do for you if you believe in Him.  Yes, I can tell you with certainty that God does have a plan for all of you.  As a young lad, there were times when I had no hope.  I did not always act as I should and had a very poor childhood.  School was not a place where I excelled.  In fact, one of my teachers told me I’d never go anywhere, and in class, he would skip me when all others were called to participate at the board.  I know God sent one teacher to advise me, and under his counsel, I changed my direction in school.  Out of this came my first job as an office boy at LaFrance Textiles.  Changed my life.

Wow, it still amazes me when I think of what God has done and where He has brought Premier.  No, we don’t know what lies ahead, but I do know that my Lord is always there and will guide us.

Merry Christmas!  Enjoy your family time and all the trimmings.  Let’s not forget to rejoice and thank God that He loved us enough to send His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him will have eternal life.

“Glory to God in the highest and on earth, peace, goodwill toward men.”  Together, let’s keep the Christmas spirit for 2014.

God bless you and Merry Christmas,

WWR at Christmastime

Joan Horner truly loved Christmas and everything about the season.  Joan was a very special lady whose impact on Premier was tremendous.  This video was shared at our Associate Christmas Party this year and we wanted to share it with you.

Below is a personal letter Joan wrote to her beloved family in 2008.  It was a wonderful Christmas reunion as 34 Horners from all over the world gathered together in Dallas to celebrate Christmas.

Joan’s Tree Lighting

Christmas was a very special time of year for our beloved Joan.  She enjoyed transforming her home into a Christmas wonderland with beautiful wreaths, lighted garland and poinsettias on every mantel, her nutcracker collection proudly displayed at the top of the stairs, Andy’s Irish Santas and beautiful nativities from all over the world.  In the kitchen she hung hand-knit Christmas stockingJoans trees for each grandchild.  Many rooms in her home had its own themed Christmas tree, but her favorite was her 16-foot tall Christmas tree she decorated in gold for her living room.  It was graced with crystal ornaments, beautiful crosses, angels and garland.

Joan loved to use her gifts of homemaking and hospitality especially at Christmastime to spread the love and joy of the season to all those in her life – her family, her church, her friends, and her Premier Family.  In the spirit of Joan’s love for sharing at Christmas, we brought her favorite tree to the office in 2011 and began the tradition of lighting her tree on the anniversary of her home going, December 5th.  This morning, we will have a beautiful celebration as many family members, church and Premier friends gather at the Home Office to remember Joan and celebrate the joy of the season.

Remembering My Honey

When I think of my sweet wife Joan, I always thank Him for how He had gifted her.  She was my best friend.  She was almost the opposite personality of me – a quiet person.  I remember well how when she was first asked to give a talk or lead a bible study or speak publicly on any occasion, she would cry and get very nervous.  I used to joke with her that she couldn’t even lead a silent prayer.  But she trusted God and prayed a lot and developed into a powerful speaker.  She developed five things that she loved to share about with others – love, true joy, service, the act of giving and especially the importance of Keeping It Personal.  She was so faithful to carry out our Philosophy and Purpose and by God’s grace and a lot of courage, she impacted thousands of Jewelers – many of whom were her friends. We will remember her and thank God for her 25 years of serving and leading Premier.  This Christmas, let’s follow her example together in those five things.  It is with great joy that I know confidently that as believers, someday we will be again in our heavenly home.

Merry Christmas,

Merry Christmas!

December 5, 2010, is a day I remember well. Two years ago, my honey, Joan, went to Heaven. Heaven is a wonderful place and I think a lot about it. What a hope for all of us who believe Jesus died on the cross and rose again that third day. We will celebrate one day with our Lord.

We had a perfect Tree Lighting ceremony here at the office on her homegoing anniversary. Last year, we brought Joan’s Christmas tree from home to the office to celebrate each year by lighting it for all to share. She always looked forward to decorating the tree each year. It was so beautiful in our living room with all the ornaments, angels, crosses and lights.

No, we are not trying to make Joan a saint, but we are trying to make sure that her legacy lives on. We want you to know just how much she meant to Premier. She loved each of you and I know you could feel her love. Her mission in Premier was to make sure that each of us knew to Keep It Personal. She was always doing something to make sure she was keeping it personal too. She was greatly loved and will always be remembered.

It was so great to celebrate her life and impact with some of her family, closest friends and area Premier Family on December 5th. It really was a special day of remembrance. Yes, she is missed, but we will never forget the role she played in Premier.

This Christmas let us remember, as Joan always did, to put our focus on our Savior who came down at Christmas time. The Bible’s account of the first Christmas begins with Joseph, as he travels to Bethlehem, trusting in God for a safe journey for Mary and a safe delivery for the baby. It ends with Mary, who “treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart” (Luke 2:19), and the shepherds, who praised God because everything happened “just as they had been told” (Luke 2:20). The miracle of the first Christmas has made its way into human hearts. It was a miracle meant for faith, as summarized in Titus 2:11-14, “The grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all people.”

From all of us here at the Home Office, we wish you a very Merry Christmas and hope you have a special time with your family. We thank you for all you do and want you to know that “We really
do care!”

God is good,
